Anne is a teenage girl, just like you, who is figuring out what her dreams are and how to make them come true.
She sees herself growing up and becoming a successful person, surrounded by great friends, learning new things, doing what she loves and having fun.
Even though Anne is excited about growing up, sometimes she feels a little bit preocupied about her body, friendships, school grades, after school activities, etc.
At the end of each day she likes to write in her journal how the day went.
Today it went like this:
“Dear Diary,
Today was one of those days where I felt I was riding the Superman roller coaster in Fiesta Texas.
It all started in the morning when I woke up with a huge zit in the middle of my forehead, it was horrible! I kept imagining how everybody would make fun of my “Third eye”, I especially didn’t want Jason to notice it, how embarrasing!
Then I couldn’t find where I put my phone so I didn’t have time to eat breakfast and I almost missed the bus, luckily I didn’t. However, I did forget to bring a lunch. Thank goodness for the vending machine outside of Mr. Henry’s classroom that kept me fed with Cheez Its and Oreos, actually, I could survive on these every single day!
From that point the day started getting worse. It all started in Math, I got the results back from my Algebra test and I got 4/10 questions right!
I wanted to cry because I thought I did my best! I really suck at Math! I think I shouldn’t even try to become an Accountant (which I kinda thought would be cool) because if I can’t even pass a simple Algebra test. I guess I should change to another major, but I have no idea what!?
The very worse part of the day was at basketball practice. I saw Sally and Kate sitting at the gym before it started so I approached them to hang out with them for a little bit.
As I got closer, Sally quickly stood up and left saying she had something urgent to do and Kate looked at me with a rude face and pulled out her journal saying she had to catch up on some homework. It was all so weird, it made me feel awkward, like they were trying to avoid me, I felt really bad so I went to the bathroom with tears in my eyes and tried to wash them off so that nobody could notice.
Then during practice it was weird, but I kept missing shots and because we are in tryouts for next year’s team I immediately began freaking out. What if I don’t make the team?! My whole life will be over! I don’t want to be a loser!
I’ve been shooting balls since I was in diapers and this is my last chance to be on the team, I don’t know what to do, I’m scared!
Anyway, so mom picked me up after practice. When we got home she gave me this huge list of chores to do and lectured me on how she would take away my phone if I didn’t finish them before 7:00 PM… Great! The last thing I needed to wrap up my crappy day!
Luckily she was so tired from work that she ended up crashing on the sofa after dinner and since dad is out of town on business, I kinda did my chores and then I finally was able to relax and I watched an episode of Pretty Little Liars on Netflix.
It was a long day. I’m not going to lie. I wish I had a BFF with whom I could tell all that’s going on in my life, someone who could really understand me and tell me what to do. I have good friends, but sometimes I feel lonely. So Diary, thanks for listening.
We’ll catch up tomorrow.
XO
Anne.”
Can you relate to what Anne wrote in her diary?
Do you sometimes feel like:
- You don’t know what to do
- You’re not good enough
- You want people to like you
- Awkward speaking up
- Scared of being lonely
- Scared that people won’t accept you
- You worry too much about things
- Your mood swings constantly
- Afraid that you won’t get good grades or perform well at a sport or activity
If you said “yes” to any of the above this is totally OK!
Most girls your age feel the same way. Being a teenager can be very exciting, confusing, boring, and interesting, all at the same time!
Sometimes you may feel mixed emotions. You may also feel that your parents don’t understand you.
Friends, clothes, Instagram, boys, and songs mean a lot to you. Your body is changing quickly and you are learning how life works in general.
Being a teenager feels like everyday having to pull out a piece of candy from a candy jar (without looking) that is filled with jawbreakers, chocolates, taffy, sweet & sour worms, gum, marshmallows, etc. You don’t know what you’ll get that day and you still have to eat it even if you don’t like it!
However, wouldn’t it be nice if you were able to look and chose what you’re going to get from that candy jar?
Wouldn’t it be nice if you didn’t always have to keep or eat a “nasty”candy that you got out of the jar?
And just like that,
Wouldn’t you like to know what you really want in life and how to get it?

I am a mom to a teenage girl, just like you.
I am also a Certified Life Coach for moms who are unhappy or having trouble in some area in their lives.
Recently a dear friend of mine lost a teenage girlfriend in a very tragic way. Her name was Danielle and she was beautiful and bright just like you.
Danielle didn’t know how to deal with some difficult situations in her life.
To honor Danielle’s memory, I decided to teach girls how to be more resilient, confident, happier, and how to make their dreams come true so that they can see how precious their lives really are.
It would be my absolute honor to help you learn some skills that will help you now and for the rest of your life!
XO,
